Edna Mae Hogue Getsinger Obituary
Edna Mae Hogue Getsinger, 86, of Blackfoot, Idaho passed away, Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018 at her daughter's home in Rigby with her loving family by her side.
Mae was born Feb. 25, 1931 to John Brower and Edna Mae Gilson Brower in Rigby, Idaho.
She attended Rigby High School, then continued her education at Idaho State University, where she earned her nursing degree.
Mae married Herbert Byron Hogue in Tetonia, Idaho in 1948. He preceded her in death in 1989. She married John Getsinger in Blackfoot in 1998. He preceded her in death in 2010.
She lived in many different places, including Rigby for the past 3 and a half years, Pocatello, Aberdeen and Washington, though she spent most of her lifetime in Blackfoot.
Mae worked as a nurse at Bannock Memorial Hospital for eight years. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in many capacities. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting and loved to travel. Mae was a foster grandparent for many years.
Mae is survived by her son, Steve Hogue, Pocatello; her daughters, Julie Hillman, Rigby, Marcia (Tim) Neal, Blackfoot, and Michelle (Jeff) Metcalf, Rigby; her sister, Lola Brower of Blackfoot; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Edna Brower; and sisters, Barbara Larson and Helen Verberder.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 15 at the Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Avenue, Blackfoot. Family will visit with friends and relatives from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 14 at the funeral home and for one hour prior to the service.
