Edna Marie Evans Cushman, 89, of Blackfoot, Idaho passed away January 24, 2018 at The Gables in Blackfoot.
Edna was born November 8, 1928 to Jedediah Earl and Carrie Inger Mortensen Evans in Rigby, Idaho. Edna was born on the family farm, joining a family of four brothers and two sisters. Another sister joined the family two years later.
She attended schools in the Rigby area and graduated in 1947. She then went to work at C.C. Anderson's in Idaho Falls, where she met her future husband, Jack.
Edna and Jack were married on February 28, 1948. They lived in Idaho Falls for a short time, then moved to Blackfoot. As their two children Bob and Marsha arrived, Edna's job became wife and mother.
In 1953, Edna and her family began a few years of travel to several different states for Jack's work, including Nebraska, Indiana and Kentucky. They made the decision to move back to Blackfoot in the early 50s.
In 1967, they purchased Cushman and Johnson Well Drilling from Jack's parents, changing the name to Jack Cushman Drilling & Pump Co. They worked hard side by side and the business prospered.
Edna enjoyed bowling, golfing, shopping, playing Bridge, and traveling. She and Jack purchased race horses and spent several years traveling to different parts of the country to the races. Another favorite pastime was her weekly hair day with Eva Mae Bowman.
Edna was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After Jack's passing, she received her temple recommend and was then sealed to Jack for time and all eternity.
Edna is survived by her children, Bob and (Nancy) Cushman and Marsha and (Doneal) Johns; five grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; sisters-in-law, Barbara Williams, Doris Cushman and Corma Evans; brother-in-law, J. Allen Call and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents, four brothers, James, Charles, Earl and McKay Evans, and three sisters Lila, Ardella and Margarite.
