Elisabeth Mary Palleria "Betty" Steffensen Obituary
Elisabeth "Betty" Mary Palleria Steffensen, 83, of Blackfoot, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2016 at the Gables in Blackfoot.
Betty was born April 9, 1932 at Osgood, Idaho, to Giovanni "John" Baptiste Palleria and Elisabetta Maria Panzarella Palleria. As a child Betty moved with her family to Firth where she was raised and attended school, graduating from Firth High School.
On June 1, 1950 she married DeLoy Steffensen in Firth, Idaho and their marriage was later solemnized the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. DeLoy preceded her in death on August 31, 2005.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She has fulfilled callings in the Young Women's, Relief Society and as Librarian.
Betty enjoyed serving her community and was active in Jaycettes, The Blackfoot Performing Arts Center, Zonta and the Bingham County Historical Society.
She worked as secretary for Blackfoot High School for 30 years.
Betty enjoyed gardening, crocheting, pinochle at the Senior Citizens Center, sewing, taking tickets at high school events and loved having lunch with her BHS friends.
Betty is survived by her son, John (Bobbie) Steffensen, of Blackfoot; her daughter, Vickie (Kirk) Reeder, of Pocatello, one brother, John (Barbara) Palleria, of Caldwell, Idaho; one sister, Mary Karren of Vernal, Ut, 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and 2 more on the way.
She was preceded in death by her husband, DeLoy; her parents; one sister, Jenny Allred; brothers-in-law, George Allred and Durrell Karren and an infant sister, Jennie Palleria.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 26, 2016 at the Blackfoot 4th Ward LDS Chapel. The family will meet with friends and relatives from 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 25, 2016 at Hawker Funeral Home and again for one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be in the Grove City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to: www.hawkerfuneralhome.com.
