Elmo Richards Obituary
Elmo LeRoy Richards, 81, of Blackfoot, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Bingham Memorial Hospital.
He was born Dec. 11, 1935 at Pleasant Grove, Utah, to Elmo K. and Melva Lamb Richards. He attended high school in Shelley.
Roy enlisted in the United States Army in 1955, serving in Korea.
Roy married Juanita Rose, she preceded him in death.  He later married Colleen Hunt on Aug. 11, 1959 at Dillon, Montana. They moved to Roberts, Idaho and later to Blackfoot, then to Salmon. They lived on several ranches; The Garrett Ranch, near Medicine Lodge, The Nicholia Ranch, near Leadore and Lava Lake Ranch in Carey for 17 years before returning to Blackfoot.
He worked as a logger for Combs in Salmon, as a well driller for Jack Cushman and his real love came when he became a rancher.
Roy enjoyed  camping, fishing, hunting, traveling in the mountains and countryside, exploring the less traveled roads.  His most favorite times were spent riding horses and watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in sports. He was always the life of the party and was never caught acting his age.
He is survived by his wife, Colleen of Blackfoot, his children: Wesley (Debbie) Richards of Blackfoot, Wendy (Keith) Bott of Groveland and Kristi (Lonny) Barg of Picabo, Idaho; two sisters, Maxine (Ken) Homer of Minidoka, Idaho and Bertha Edmonds of Spring City, Utah; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Juanita; his parents and two brothers, Parson Eugene Richards and Kay Richards.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday July 25 at the Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Ave.
The family will greet friends and relatives from 6-8 p.m. Monday July 24 at the Hawker Funeral Home and again one hour prior to the services on Tuesday. Interment will be in the Groveland Cemetery.
Condolences may be sent to the family at www.hawkerfuneralhome.com.
