Erik Matthew Wesaw Obituary
Erik Matthew Wesaw, 35, passed on to be with our Heavenly Father on September 16, 2015 following an illness while in the hospital in Boise, Idaho, surrounded by family and friends.
Erik was born in February of 1980 in Blackfoot, Idaho to Renae Wesaw and Matthew James Stacey Sr. He was from the beginning, a blessing to the family he joined and he was very much loved. Erik attended schools in Blackfoot, Chemawa Indian School in Salem, Oregon and Fort Hall. He also attended classes at Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho.
Erik became a first time father in 1997 with son, Micah Marietta, with Claire Marietta who passed tragically at that time. Erik became a father for a second time, to a beautiful daughter named Lyla Renae Wesaw, with Chenoa Begay whom he married in 2007 but they later separated although they both continued to be loving and wonderful parents for Lyla. Lyla was the love and light of Erik's life and he loved being her "dad".
Erik loved to draw and later took up tattooing which he continued doing up until his passing. Erik enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting with his family. He also very much enjoyed spending time with his family, often attending the many activities in Boise, which became his home in his later years where he met Lasalle Kelley, who became his companion during this time until his passing. Erik had a kind heart and a good sense of humor and he loved to laugh. He always helped his family and friends when he if he could and was always a person to remember once he met you. Erik will be greatly missed in this life by family and friends but we will look forward with great joy in our hearts to meet with him again in our heavenly home.
Erik is survived by his daughter, Lyla Renae and wife Chenoa, both of Gibson; his son Micah Marrietta of Sacaton, Arizona; his sisters, Rebecca Jamison (Martin Porreca) of Boise, Bo Stacey of Fort Washakie and Naomi Stacey of Fort Hall; his brothers, Wayne (Leah) Hardy of Boise/Fort Hall, Matthew Stacey Jr., Nolan (Raylene) Stacey, Kristopher Stacey, and Wilson Stacey of Fort Washakie, Seth Stacey and Lawrence Stacey of Fort Hall; and a large family of uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews and nieces.
