Eugene "Gene" Jones Obituary
Eugene "Gene" Jones, 87, of Blackfoot, Idaho passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at his home.
He was born May 7, 1928 in Blackfoot, Idaho the son of John Thomas and Estella Bradley Jones.
Gene graduated from Blackfoot High School and has lived in Blackfoot all but three years of his life.
On June 9, 1950, he married his sweetheart, Norma Jean Wilcox in the Idaho Falls Temple.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in many callings throughout his life.
Gene owned Westcott Oil Company and then he and Norma owned May's Flowers & Music for 25 years. Their family worked very hard in that business. After selling the flower shop, they loved spending winters in Arizona and returning to Blackfoot for the summers.
Gene enjoyed meeting his longtime friends each morning at Rupe's Burgers to laugh, gab and play the famous numbers game for many years. He also enjoyed a weekly round of golf with many of the same friends.
Gene's happiest times were spent with his family, traveling, fishing, hunting, and golfing. It was always fun for him to go to his grandchildren's special sporting, music and dancing events, and also attending their high school and college graduations.
He is survived by his wife, Norma of Blackfoot; sons, Greg (Ilene) Jones of McCall, ID, Layne (Jeannine) Jones of Draper, Utah and daughter, Shelley (Michael) Harris of Blackfoot; 7 grandchildren, Nicolle (Brett) Gleason, Brett (Kristin) Jones, Tyson (Samantha) Jones, Landon (Kimberly) Jones, Megan (Jordan) Harmon, Jennifer Jones, Matthew Harris (Addie Jo); 9 great grandchildren and brother, Jerry (Pat) Jones of Island Park.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., Blackfoot, Idaho.
The family will meet with friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 25, 2015 and for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
