Fredrick Dwight "Fred" McLain Obituary
Fredrick "Fred" Dwight McLain, 79, of Blackfoot, Idaho passed away Thursday, January 7, 2016 at Bingham Memorial Skilled Nursing from complications of previous radiation treatments.
Fred was born February 19, 1936 in Norman, Oklahoma to William Everett McLain and Juanita June Buchanan.  
He has been a resident of the Blackfoot area since 1971.  While in the area, he worked construction work at INEEL during the 80's and 90's. He worked with the Blackfoot Police Department during the early 1970's and worked with the Bingham County Sheriffs Office from 1974-1976, threw his hat in for Bingham County Sheriff in 1976, 1982 and 1996. While with the Sheriff's Department, he worked as a juvenile officer for Fort Hall.
Fred was the proprietor of the Tumble Weed Saloon from 1999-2006.
Fred was a person who always held a hand out to people in need. He was known for his humor and understanding of problems you may experience in a troubled life. He will be missed greatly...
He is survived by his two daughters, Virginia Ann (B.R.)Reeves of Oklahoma and Helena Holm of Atlanta, GA; his sons, Tony (Donna) McLain of Blackfoot, ID, Raymon (Loretta) McLain of Blackfoot, ID, Gerrad (Amity) McLain of Blackfoot, ID; his brothers, Billy Gene McLain of Oklahoma, William Everett McLain of Indiana and Walley Barney of Blackfoot; his sister, Virginia Simmons of Parker, CO; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Maedean McLain; and parents, William and Juanita McLain
A viewing will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at the Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S Shilling Ave and for one hour prior to services at the Legion Hall. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, January 11, 2016 at the American Legion Hall, 436 N Fisher Street, Blackfoot.
