He worked 25 years in the Idaho Falls Temple, as a guide at the Idaho Falls Visitors Center, and served in the Bishop's storehouse. He served in the Bishopric, as scout master, and in other callings working with the youth. He served two years in the military during the Korean War.  After basic training, he was assigned to serve in Alaska. Over his lifetime, Gary was a farmer, owned a construction company and owned a tire and auto repair store. He enjoyed singing, woodworking, camping, hunting and fishing.
