George A. Katseanes Obituary
George A. Katseanes, 89, of Blackfoot, Idaho, passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Bingham Memorial Skilled Nursing and Rehab.
George was born on March 15, 1927 in Blackfoot to Angell and Ada Bingham Katseanes.
George grew up in Blackfoot, and graduated from Blackfoot High School. He went on to further his education by graduating with a Bachelor of Sciences and Geology degree from Idaho State University. 
George was drafted into the Navy during World War II.
George was sealed to Kathryn Leuedahl on Aug. 7, 1948 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Together they had four children; Kory, Michael, Georgia, and Julie. Kathryn passed away on Sept. 28, 1988.
George also married Frankie Burrup and Joan Murdock.
George loved being outdoors. He was a farmer and a rancher, and enjoyed riding horses in the mountains with friends, hunting and fishing. George was an avid sportsman - loving baseball, basketball and golf. He coached his grandchildren to numerous basketball awards.
George belonged to several organizations and clubs. He was the Snake River School board chairman, belonged to the Idaho State Water Board, Bingham County Planning & Zoning Board, and was a member of the Potato Grower of Idaho Organization. He served as the Bingham County Commissioner - Chairman, and as an Idaho State Senator.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in numerous church callings, as well as in the bishopric and high council.
George is survived by his wife, Joan Katseanes of Blackfoot; sons, Kory (Carolyn) Katseanes of Provo, Utah and Michael (Jeannie) Katseanes of Blackfoot, Idaho; his daughters, Georgia Loveday (Joe Hess), of Twin Falls, Idaho, Julie Kershaw of Blackfoot, Idaho; and sister, Joan Raymond of Idaho Falls, Idaho; 18 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Angell and Ada Katseanes, brothers, Tommy Katseanes, Harry Katseanes, Andrew Katseanes, Ted Katseanes, and infant brother Gus Katseanes; and sisters Florence Hubbard, Margarita Katseanes, Martha Carmichael, and infant sister Yonula Katseanes.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 24, 2017 at the Blackfoot West LDS Stake Center at 11 a.m. A viewing will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2017, from 6-8 p.m. at Hawker Funeral Home, and again one hour prior to the services at the church.
Interment will be at the Riverside-Thomas Cemetery.
