Geraldine Wood Herrera Obituary
On Jan. 19, 2017, wife, mother, sister and friend Geraldine Wood Herrera courageously ended her battle with cancer in Carmichael California surrounded by her loving family.
Geraldine Wood was born Aug. 8, 1952 in Blackfoot to Owen Merrell Wood and Phelma Burniss Peterson Wood of Rockford Idaho. She grew up in a large family on a farm just outside of Blackfoot so there was a lot of work but also a lot of fun. She always loved life and lived it to the fullest.
She loved traveling especially with her husband Andy, shopping and visiting family and friends. Her job as a Benefits Counselor sent her to many locations, allowing her to do the things she loved.
During the few months a year (her works off time) she was a substitute teacher for San Juan School District and just loved by all.
Gerri was an active member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had many different callings she enjoyed.
At the time of her passing, she was living with her husband in Fair Oaks California. Gerri will truly be missed by all.
She is survived by her husband Andres Herrera, brothers J. Lynn Wood (Janece), and Charles Wood (Mary), sisters Jean Krommenhoek (Eli) and Etta May Eavenson (Dale). Children Brian Harrah (Jenni) and Amber Rittel (Todd). Grandchildren Tyler Schofield, Spencer Harrah, Kaysia Harrah, Maddison Wood, and Ben Rittel.
Preceded in death are parents, Owen and Phelma Wood; brother Owen Woodrow Wood; sisters Sheryl Ybarguen; and Beverly Bullock, and son Robert Harrah.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28 at Hawker Funeral Home.
Family will meet with friends and relatives for two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent to the family at: www.hawkerfuneralhome.com.
