Glennis I. Brodal Obituary
Glennis I. Brodal, 87, of Blackfoot passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2015 at Bingham Memorial Skilled Nursing Home.
Glennis was born March 13, 1928 in Rochester, Minnesota, to Howard and Margaret Christine Nelson Reed. She attended schools in Minnesota. After graduating high school, she worked as a secretary to the president of a bank for 10 years; during this time she became acquainted with James "Jim" Oliver Brodal. Glennis married the love of her life, Jim, on Sept. 30, 1950 in Hinckley, Minnesota. Glennis later worked as an office manager for a medical clinic in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.
Jim and Glennis were blessed with two adopted children, Mark Jim and Margaret "Peggy" Ann. Jim's work with Farmhand brought the family to Blackfoot in 1973. After their children graduated from college, Glennis fulfilled a longtime dream by attending Idaho State University in Pocatello and graduated in 1985 with high honors and perfect attendance. She became a media specialist, working for the Idaho Falls school district for 11 years.
Over the years, Glennis enjoyed ceramic painting, sketching, sewing and quilting, reading, flowers and her yard, including a pond stocked with special fish for each of her grandkids. She took great joy in decorating their home with many collections of dolls, figurines, paintings, and other treasures.
Glennis especially enjoyed the holidays. Christmas, and the colors red, gold, and pink, were her favorite. She looked forward to having the family together. Many special memories were created reading the Christmas story from the Bible and sharing Jesus' birthday cake together on Christmas Eve.
In later years, Jim and Glennis enjoyed traveling and touring together to different countries.
Glennis' greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She loved getting new family pictures and sharing them with whomever stopped by. She looked forward with great anticipation to visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; getting to hold her new great-granddaughter was a highlight this past year. She was so proud of her family and their accomplishments and loved to hear stories of their latest adventures.
Glennis was a believer in Jesus Christ, professing to be a sinner saved by grace, and being born again at the age of 11.  She had peace and joy knowing that she would be with the Lord one day and united with family members in heaven. We are comforted in knowing that she is now singing with the angels.
Glennis is survived by her son, Mark (Julie) Brodal of Blackfoot; former son-in-law, Kevin Stafford, Littleton, Colorado; sister, Elaine Mahnke, Minnesota; brother-in-law, Gene (Ellen) Swanson; grandchildren, Megan (Matt) Jordan, of Meridian, Idaho; Joshua Brodal, Boise, Idaho; Kassey (Josh) Dillard, of Denver, Colorado; Dereck Stafford, Littleton, Colorado; and great-grandchildren, Carter Jordan and Kylie Jordan of Boise, Idaho; and many special nieces and nephews.
Glennis was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jim (who passed away August 5, 2005); daughter, Peggy; sisters, Beverly, Leone, and Virginia "Gini"; brother, Howard; and her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015, at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot.  Family will meet with friends and family on Saturday one hour prior to services.
