Gracelyn Chalise Ward Obituary
On December 28, 2014 our sweet angel, Gracelyn Ward, slipped away quietly in her sleep. She was born 18 years ago, on October 1, 1996, weighing a mere 2 lbs 7 oz. We were informed shortly after her birth that she had a genetic condition that was usually infompatible with life. Shortly after the diagnosis of Trisomy 18 she pulled out her own breathing tubes and showed us that she planned on staying here on earth with us. Through the years she beat the odds many times and amazed her family by the love that she showed us.
She had a twinkle in her eye and a smile on her face whenever there was family around. She blessed us with her teasing, cuddles, hugs and kisses almost daily. She was the center of our family. She endured an endless amount of kisses and she loved just being held and cuddled more than any other thing.
Gracelyn was and inspiration to many people. We were told frequently of the influence she had on them. She never walked or spoke but she communicated her love clearly to those around her.
Because of the persistence of a wonderful teacher, she was able to attend Ketchikan High School for a year and a half. She learned quickly and made many friends there.
She was well known in the communities that she lived and we are so grateful for the many people who showed their love for her in acts of genuine care and kindness. We are also very grateful for the many dedicated medical professionals who went above and beyond their duty to assure that she was comfortable and could enjoy life to its fullest.
Her parents, Craig and Teresa Ward, her older brother Dayne and his wife Jana, older sister Tylynn, and younger brothers Dallin and Mack will miss her dearly! A friend summed up her passing by saying "The earth just got a little less beautiful, but heaven got a little more perfect."
There will be an open house celebration of her life in Rexburg, Idaho at the Stonebridge LDS church house on January 4th from 5-8 p.m. and another in Ketchikan, Alaska, at the LDS church on January 18th from 6 to 8 p.m. We welcome all who know and lover her.
