Guadalupe "Lupe" Garza Obituary
Guadalupe "Lupe" Garza, 72, passed away unexpectedly December 29, 2017, at her home in Blackfoot, Idaho, from an apparent heart attack.?Lupe was born June 12, 1945, in Harlingen, Texas, to Augustine Hernandez and Ma. Estefana Doñez and attended school there as a child.
She and her family had lived in various places in California and Texas before moving to Blackfoot in 1990 from Thermal, California. She has made her home Blackfoot ever since. She has remained faithful to her family roots as an active member of the Roman Catholic Church and attends the St. Bernard's Catholic Church regularly.
On July 14, 1973 she married Cirildo M. Garza in Mt. Home, Idaho. He passed in May of 2009.
Lupe worked hard to raise her family and look after their needs and cared for them in her home.
She loved working outside and getting her hands dirty while gardening. She enjoyed nature and especially loved being with her family. Her greatest love was her grandchildren and she cherished the time she spent with them.
Lupe is survived by her children, Lucy Ann (Rogelio) Carrillo of Pingree, ID, Sylvia (Rick) Fernandez of Indio, CA, Cirildo H. Garza Jr. of Blackfoot, ID and Nino "Jose" Angel Garza of Blackfoot, her nine grandchildren, Ruben, Tonya, Caprees, Kalayha, Eli, Chris, Cassandra, Mia and Bo and one great-granddaughter Leorah.
She is proceeded in death by her husband, Cirildo M. Garza, her parents Augustine and Ma. Estefana and a brother Joe Hernandez.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 6, 2018 at the St. Bernard's Catholic Church, 584 W. Sexton, Blackfoot. Family will meet with friends and relatives for a vigil from 6-8 p.m. Friday, January 5, 2018 at the Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Avenue, Blackfoot, Idaho. Interment will follow in the Riverside-Thomas Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.hawkerfuneralhome.com.
