Guy Loell Walker Obituary
Guy Loell Walker, 78, of Blackfoot, Idaho passed away Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018, at his home.
Guy was born on March 12, 1939 to Sterling Guy and Dorothy Jensen Walker in Pocatello, Idaho.
He spent his first twenty years in Pocatello, graduating from Pocatello High School. He then attended Idaho State University.
He married Karol Ann Brookes in Idaho Falls, Idaho in 1958. To this union, five children were born. They later divorced.
He spent time working for Coleman Lumber Supply and racing cars with his brother-in-law Kay Hill. He'd lose a race, go home and work on the car, then out he would go out again to win the race.
Guy was a land developer in Boise. He started his construction career while working at Coleman's and building his first house. He was then transferred to Seattle, Washington.
He built homes out there for several years, but his dislike of the constant drizzle of Seattle helped them decide to return to the Boise area. He built the first atrium building in Boise, and also built senior citizen centers across the state. He built well over 100 homes.
To make his construction projects more efficient, he created a software program for builders that is still in use to this day.
He continued designing, constructing and developing land for business. He thought he had retired from the construction business until he met Joan Going Coleman.
She had 10 acres in Rockford, Idaho that she wanted developed. They married Nov. 22, 2008, and they spent that winter designing their house and preparing to build in Rockford.
Guy is survived by his wife Joan, daughters, Teri (Kelly) Strong of Logan, Utah, Joni (Adam) Cook of Houston, Texas, Robyn (Doug) Campbell of Boise, Jill (Mike) Hansen of Boise, Idaho and Jessika Walker of Springville, Utah, his step-son Glen (Micha) Rodrigues of California, his step-daughter Stephanie (Paul) Mortensen of Cour d'Alene, Idaho, his brother Val D. (Rita) of Mesa, Arizona, his sisters, Sterla (Earl) Hansen of Salt Lake City and Deanna (Kay) Hill of Pocatello.
He was preceded in death by his parents Sterling and Dorothy Walker.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30 at the Thomas 2nd Ward. Family will meet with friends and relatives from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29 at the Hawker Funeral Home and again for one hour prior to the services at the church.
