James Edward Furniss Obituary
James Edward Furniss, 81, of Blackfoot, passed away surrounded by family Wednesday, July 20, 2016 of respiratory failure.
Jim was born Dec. 10, 1934, in Firth, Idaho to Clyde Edward Furniss and Mary Christina Hobley.
He attended schools in Firth and Pingree and graduated from Aberdeen High School. 
On December 18, 1952 he married Barbara Cushman. They had three children, Jackie (Ron) Wieland, David Furniss, and Jeanne Furniss-Poppleton. They were later divorced.
On June 17, 1967,  he married Cathy Spanbauer in Elko, Nevada. They recently celebrated their 49th anniversary.
Jim was a proud member of Pipefitters Local 648 Union for 57 years. He worked in the nuclear/ construction field in Puerto Rico, Alaska, Saudi Arabia and many other U.S. sites.
Following his retirement in 1992, he and Cathy spent many years traveling. They wintered many years in Lake Havasu and Quartzsite, Arizona, and Las Vegas. They enjoyed many years at their property in Spencer, Idaho, where they hunted, fished, 4-wheeled, snow machined, and barbecued with family and friends.
Jim is survived by his wife of 49 years, Cathy Spanbauer Furniss of Blackfoot; daughters, Jackie (Ron) Wieland of Blackfoot, and Jeanne Furniss-Poppleton of Pocatello; son, David Furniss of Spencer, Idaho; sister, Marilyn (Vern) Duffin of Nampa, Idaho; brother-in-law, Joe (Lynette) Spanbauer of Iroquois, South Dakota; sister-in-law, Margie (Rick) Busboom of Henderson, Nev.; favorite four-legged buddy "Chance"; 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one grandson. 
Jim was a friend to all and will be deeply missed by family and friends. 
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 25, 2016 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S Shilling Ave, in Blackfoot. Family will meet with relatives and friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, July 24, 2016 and for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
