Jay Edwin Bench Obituary
Jay Edwin Bench, 68, of Blackfoot, Idaho passed away Thursday, June 30, 2016 at his home from an extended illness.
Jay was born November 27, 1947 in Blackfoot, Idaho to Francis L. Bench and Genevieve Moon. He received his education in  Blackfoot where he attended grade school and Blackfoot High School.  
He proudly served his country in the United States Navy in Vietnam War and afterward served in the Army National Guard for 20 years.
Jay married Carla Marie Waddoups. They were later divorced.
He worked as a brand inspector and worked at the INEL, starting in the mail room and ended his career in administration. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. 
Jay loved hunting fishing and camping and was an avid pilot. He also thoroughly enjoyed playing his guitar. His greatest love was his family and grandchildren.
Jay is survived by his sons, Jason (Megan) Bench of St. George, Utah and Brad (Crystal) Bench of Washington, D.C.;  and seven grandchildren. Also surviving are his siblings, Francis Deloy (Pam) Bench, Brigham City, UT., Dixie (Earl) Trappett of Blackfoot, Esther (Carl) Winkler, Blackfoot, Ned (Vickie) Bench, Burley, ID, Judy (Dana) Honeycutt, Tucson, AZ, Debbie (Max) Webb, Moses Lake, WA, 
He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters Penny Balmforth and Golda Bench.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave. Blackfoot, Idaho. The family will meet with friends on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home and for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Moreland Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.hawkerfuneralhome.com.
