John Riley Hartson Obituary
John Riley Hartson, 79, of Blackfoot passed away Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017 at his home.
John was born Oct 9, 1938 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to John Lucius Hartson and Marie Pagel Hartson.
John attended school in Iowa before choosing to serve his country in the United State's Air Force. John received his education through the military. Throughout his military career he advanced to the rank of  Master Sergeant.  John served in Vietnam where he received the Bronze Star and he also served in Korea.
On May 7, 1960 he married Jeanne Doucet in Chateaurux, France.
John and Jeanne have lived in France, Texas, Alaska, Washington, before purchasing The Colonial Inn and making their home in Idaho.
He worked in the Air Force, in real estate and as a contractor.
In his free time, John enjoyed traveling, camping, collecting classic cars, auction sales and spending time with his family.
John is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Jeanne Hartson of Blackfoot; sons, Johny Hartson, Steven Hartson, Ernest Hartson and Charles Hartson; brothers, Orlie and Lloyd Hartson; sister, Linda Hartson; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Marie Hartson; and sister, Marie Hartson.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 17 at the Hawker Funeral Home.
Military honors will follow the service at the funeral home. 
Family will meet with friends and relatives from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16 at the funeral home and for one hour prior to the service.
