John Ritchie Obituary
John Ritchie, 70, of Blackfoot, Idaho passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at Portneuf Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer.

John was born November 17, 1944 in Heber City, Utah to Clyde Ritchie and Anne Whiting.  He graduated from Wasatch High School in Heber City, UT.   He received his Bachelor degree at Utah State where he was a member of the Psi Sigma Kappa fraternity.  He earned his Masters degree in Business Administration from University of Idaho.

On August 27, 1967 John married Kathy Spraker in Blackfoot, Idaho. To that union was born 4 children.  They were later divorced.  On November 11, 1991 he married Kaye Hook in  Kauai, Hawaii.

He worked for Westinghouse in Pennsylvania, AMI in Pocatello and then back to Westinghouse at the INEL.  He was the owner of many various businesses, including Blackfoot College of Beauty, Blackfoot Realty and part owner of The Mini Barn.  He was the owner of KOA in Blackfoot that later became Gas And Scrub.  He enjoyed music, stemming from his youth, where he was the lead vocalist and guitarist in a band called "The Salty Dogs."  He also enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting with his brothers, camping, 4-wheeling, his pets, and watching his grandchildren in their activities.  He was an avid football fan.  He attended a NFL football game every year for the last 15 years.  He was a season ticket holder for Idaho State University Football and never missed a game, even through the losing years.

John is survived by his wife, Kaye of Blackfoot; Children, Kim (Kevin) Jones of Twin Falls, Dana Bornia of Big Bear Lake, CA, Ginger (Scott) Van Orden of Blackfoot, Scott (Andrea) Hook of Pocatello, twins, Mike Ritchie of Pocatello and Amy Ritchie of Twin Falls; brothers, Roy (Barbara) Ritchie and Don (Liz) Ritchie both of Heber City, UT; sister, Diane (Teryl) Hunsaker of Grantsville, UT; and nine grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by by his parents; and grandson,Colby VanOrden.

He will be remembered for his positive outlook on life, and his ability to make everyone feel like an old friend. 

A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Groveland Cemetery.  The family will meet 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S Shilling Ave., Blackfoot, Idaho.  Condolences may be sent to the family on line at www.hawkerfuneralhome.com.
