John Simon Martin Obituary
John Simon Martin, 75, of Blackfoot, died at his daughter's home early Sunday morning, June 19, 2016.
John was born on Aug. 20, 1940 to his proud parents, Richard Leopold Martin and Mary Evelyn Speelmon Martin, in Idaho Falls.
He was born a farmer and loved anything to do with farming. He farmed in Mud Lake at a young age.
On Nov. 26, 1959 he married his high school sweetheart, Patricia White. They had four children, Michael "Mick", Jill, Joni and Jackie.
They had the true family farm; all the children and Pat worked hard to make a life for themselves. John loved farming potatoes, but also raised grain, hay and cattle.
John operated many farms in the Mud Lake, Hamer, Dubois and Blackfoot area. John's son farmed along with him his whole life. Later in life, John found a love for buying and refurbishing equipment and automobiles for resale.
John is survived by his youngest sister, Michele Ross, of Klamath Falls, Ore.; his son, Michael "Mick" John (Robyne) Martin, of Blackfoot, Jill (Terrill) Lufkin, of Menan, Joni (Chad) Jackson, of Roberts, and Jackie (Blake) Worthen, also of Roberts; 18 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services are to be held Friday, June 24 at the Roberts, Community Church in Roberts, Idaho at 2 p.m. the family will visit with friends one hour before. Anyone who knew John knows he will greatly be missed.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hawker Funeral Home in Blackfoot. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.hawkerfuneralhome.com.
