Joy Martin Obituary
Joy Martin, 69, of Blackfoot, passed away Monday, Dec. 25, 2017 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.
She was born June 12, 1948 in Blackfoot, Idaho to Lehi Roy Anderson and Lorraina Kendall Anderson.
Joy spent her lifetime in Blackfoot, attending schools there and graduating from Snake River High School. She went on to attend Glen E. Clark Business School.
She married Ronald Richard Mencer Jr. in 1966. To this union, two children were born. They later divorced.
Joy then married Von Gene Martin on March 22, 1974. They were happily married until Von's passing in 2016.
She worked at the Eastern Idaho State Fairgrounds, Rockford Lumber, and Simplot Fertilizer as a bookkeeper where she retired in 2010.
Joy was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed doing genealogy. She also enjoyed riding with Von on their motorcycle and spending time with family.
Joy is survived by her children, Gene Louis (Jean) Martin of Pocatello, Constance Joy (Ticket) Mencer Stacey of Rigby, Ronald Mencer Jr. of Rigby, and Ronda Jean (Brian) Lloyd of Blackfoot; sisters May Adams and Lila Adams; 12 grandchildren and 14 1/2 great-grandchildren and son-in-law Kenny Stacey of Vernal, Utah.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Von; her parents; brothers Boyd, Dale, Ellis, Ray, Max and Bill; sisters Ruth, Verona, Gwen and Leah.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 29 at the Riverside LDS Church. Family will meet with friends and relatives from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 28 at The Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot and again one hour prior to the service at the church.
