Judy Francis Obituary
Judy Francis, 83, peacefully passed away in her home on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 from complications with Alzheimer's disease.

Judy was born Judith Perret-Gentil on October 19, 1931 on the island of Curacao, Dutch West Indies. Her mother was Alma Florence Geissner, her father Casper Cornelius Perret-Gentil. She was raised on the family citrus plantation until the age of 12 when the family immigrated to the United States in 1943. She became a naturalized US citizen in 1955.

Settling in Los Angeles, Judy finished high-school and began work as a PBX (private branch exchange) operator. Thereafter she worked as a stewardess for Western Airlines flying DC-3 passenger liners. Her flying schedule allowed her to simultaneously attend college and she graduated from California State College Los Angeles in 1961 with her teaching credential.

She then began her life-long career as a special-ed teacher, and also became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. For the next 34 years she would teach special-education students, first in the Los Angeles School District and then, after moving to Blackfoot in 1981, the Blackfoot School District. She was selected as Blackfoot Teacher of the Year in 1986. She was married and sealed to her husband Jack in the Los Angeles temple in 1990, and retired from teaching in 1995. Since then she has devoted her time to family and genealogy work, and as officiator in the Idaho Falls temple.

As a loving mother, devoted grandmother, and teacher, she had a favorite recipe for "preserving" children, as follows: Take: 1 large grassy field; 1Ž2 doz. children; 2 – 3 small dogs; a pinch of sparkling brook and some pebbles. Mix the children and the dogs together well and put them in the field, stirring constantly. Pour the brook over the pebbles. Sprinkle the field with flowers. Spread over all a deep blue sky. Bake in the hot sun. When brown, remove and set away to cool in a bathtub. Enjoy!

Judy is preceded in death by her sister, Claire; and brother, Anthony.

She is survived by her husband, Jack; sister, Anne (Ross); and sons, Eric (Kathy), Brian (Aprilynn), Wayne and Stefan (Naomi); and ten awesome grandchildren.
