Larry George Herres Obituary
Larry George Herres, 58, of Blackfoot, Idaho passed away May 22, 2015 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, surrounded by his loving family.
Larry was born December 13, 1956 in Pocatello, Idaho to George J and Lola Lee Wixom Herres. He was a lifelong resident of Blackfoot, attending grade school in Groveland and graduating from Blackfoot High School.
On February 15, 1978 Larry married Karen Marie Schwarz in Elko, Nevada.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Larry taught EMT and First Responder classes for years, as well as CPR classes for the Red Cross. He also worked at Nonpareil for 28 years in Human Resource Administration. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and part of the Cedar Hill Gun Club. He was Commander for the Bingham County Search and Rescue for three years and was a volunteer Advanced EMT for the Blackfoot Fire Department for 13 years. In his free time he enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, carving walking sticks, making jewelry out of antlers, 4-wheeling and snowmobiling.
Larry is survived by his wife, Karen of Blackfoot; children, Kimberly (James) Case of Idaho Falls, Tyson (Kerri) Herres of Riverside and Brandon Herres of Groveland; sister, Christine Herres of Blackfoot; and four grandchildren, MaKayla, Clayton, Carson Herres and Jake Case.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at the Groveland 2nd Ward LDS Chapel, 155 North 380 West in Blackfoot. Family will meet with friends and relatives from 7-9 p.m. on Friday, May 29, 2015 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot and for one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will follow services at the Groveland Cemertery. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.hawkerfuneralhome.com.
