Larry Lee Asay Obituary
Larry Lee Asay, 64, of Blackfoot passed away on Sunday December 27, 2015 at his home.
Larry was born on May 9, 1951 in Blackfoot, Idaho to Melvin Asay and Mary Anne Hensley. He grew up in the Blackfoot area and graduated from Blackfoot High School. After graduation he attended college at Idaho State University. He worked as a mechanic for a time before joining the local Pipefitters Union #648 in 1972. Larry worked as a pipefitter out at the INL for a number of years until his retirement.
The best way to describe Larry is by saying that he truly was a 'Jack of all trades.' Larry loved to tinker, repair and collect many valuable antiques. His family would always bring him various items to see if he could fix them and he always would tell them that he would do his best to repair it for them. He loved to work with his hands and wrench on cars, make stained glass and create jewelry for his family members. Larry was an excellent woodworker and loved refinishing furniture. From the time he was 4 years old Larry loved to cook and learned to become an excellent cook. He would always find the positive things in life and in people.
Above all else, family was most important to Larry. He always made time to make sure that they were taken care of and made a special daily effort to care for his father Melvin to ensure he was comfortable and happy.
Larry is survived by his daughters, Erica (Dustin) Farnes, of Shelley, ID, and Natalie (Geoffrey Ancheta) Asay, of St. George, UT, his parents, Melvin and Mary Asay, of Blackfoot, his two sisters Margo Toulouse, of Utah, Ronda Oberhansley, of Rexburg, Idaho, his grandchildren, Mia Asay, Talon Farnes, Kennedy Asay, and Addasyn Ancheta, numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday December 31, 2015 at 12 p.m. at the Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S.
