Linda Kay Jenkins Long Obituary
Linda Kay Jenkins Long, 74, of Blackfoot, passed away, Thursday, February 22, 2018 following a brief illness at the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City surrounded by her family.
Linda was born February 3, 1944 in Provo, Utah to William Lloyd Jenkins and Echo Jane Nichols Jenkins. She was the youngest of four children.
Her family moved to Aberdeen, Idaho and then later to Blackfoot. Linda was baptized as a Jehovah Witness at the age of eight. She lived her entire life loyal to her Jehovah God.
In 1958 she met the love of her life while working at the Cathay Cafe. On July 15, 1961 she married him, Joseph Richard Long. Together they raised their three daughters, Nancy (Brian) Bates, Kathy (Scott) Lawhon and Tammy Long. She loved and enjoyed her three granddaughters, one grandson, and two great granddaughters.
Linda loved people and opened her heart, arms and house to all. You may come into her home or meet her as a stranger, but left as family. She was very giving and hospitable to others.
Linda worked as a waitress at the Cathey Cafe, then with her husband for his business. Eventually she went to work at Basic American Foods and loved working in the lab with her friends. After she retired she and her husband enjoyed helping build many Kingdom Halls all over Idaho, Utah and Wyoming.
Linda is survived by her husband, Joseph; three daughters; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Darrly Jenkins; two sisters, Peggy Bowers and Carrolyn Steed along with their spouses.
The family would like to thank those who helped Linda during her stay at Bingham Memorial and especially at the University of Utah Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2018 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1535 Highland Dr. in Blackfoot followed by a dinner with the family at the Ridge Crest Elementary School after the memorial. Family is under the care of Hawker Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to the family at: www.hawkerfuneralhome.com.
