Lois Ann (Bingham) Mortensen Obituary
Lois Ann (Bingham) Mortensen, 66, of Blackfoot, Idaho, passed away on Sept. 24, 2016.
The fourth of five children, Lois was born August 25, 1950, in Blackfoot, Idaho, the daughter of Marlin and Elma Bingham.
She graduated from Blackfoot High School and then attended Ricks College (now BYU Idaho) and Weber State University.
She married Ralph Mortensen on Feb. 28, 1975, in the Idaho Falls Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They raised three children together: Clay (Tennille) Mortensen of Portland, Oregon, Shelley Mortensen of Draper, Utah, and Daynna (Travis) Buck of Blackfoot. She had five grandchildren: Syden, Avry, and Harper Buck; Brinley and Noelle Mortensen.
As a member of the LDS Church, she served in a variety of callings, but especially loved playing the hymns as a ward organist. At the time of her death, she and her husband were teaching a marriage and family relationship class. Her faith in the Savior and understanding of the gospel of Jesus Christ carried her through a muscular disease that she suffered with for 30 years. She had a great love for each individual with whom she came in contact and was known for her listening ear and quiet words of wisdom.
Reading had a profound effect on her life, and she was also a talented writer. She enjoyed spending time with family and admiring the natural beauty of the world around her.
She is survived by her husband, children and grandchildren as well as her siblings: Jane (Max) Lamprecht, Rhea (Don) Christensen, David (Joyce) Bingham, and Paul (Lori) Bingham.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marlin and Elma Bingham.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 29 at the Blackfoot East Stake Center, 1289 Mount Putnam Dr., Blackfoot, Idaho. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 28 from 6-8 p.m. at the Hawker Funeral Home and one hour prior to the funeral services at the stake center. Interment will be in the Riverside Thomas Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family online at: www.hawkerfuneralhome.com.
