Ma Petra Rico Obituary
Ma Petra Rico, 78, of Blackfoot passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at the Bingham Memorial Hospital.

Ma Petra was born October 23, 1936 in Arroyo Hondo, San Luis Potosi, Mexico to Esiquio Cervantes and Panfila Reyes Cervantes.  She lived her younger life in San Luis Potosi.  

On December 24, 1954 Ma Petra married Leonardo in San Luis Potosi.  They moved to Shelley, Idaho in 1989 and to Blackfoot, Idaho in 1994.  

Ma Petra was a very active member of the Catholic Church.

She worked at Nonpareil and on the farms with her family.  She would rise early every morning to grind corn and make handmade tortillas for her family.  She was a fantastic cook and loved to cook for her family.

Ma Petra is survived by her husband, Leonardo Rico of Moreland; sons, Arcadio (Regina) Rico, Ventrua (Hilda) Rico and Gerardo (Margarita) Rico all of Shelley; daughters, Inocencia (Leobrando) Garcia of Englewood, CA, Maria Rico of San Luis Potosi, Mexico, Maria De Le Luz madrigal of Blackfoot, Alfonsa (Pascoal) Yanez of Ammon, Alicia (Juventino) Vega of Groveland and Maria (Sergio) Espina of South Carolina; sisters, Antonia Guzman of Redondo Beach, CA and Julia Cervantes of San Luis Potosi, Mexico; 33 grandchildren; and 30 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 31, 2015 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, 584 W. Sexton, Blackfoot.  On Thursday, July 30, 2015 at 5 p.m. a Christian Service will be held with a Catholic Rosary service following at 6 p.m. at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., Blackfoot, a viewing will follow until 9 p.m.  Condolences may be sent to: www.hawkerfuneralhome.com.
