Marion Yvonne (Vold) Elison Obituary
Marion Yvonne (Vold) Elison passed away on February 12, 2016 at The Gables in Shelley, Idaho.
She was the daughter of Clarence Oliver Vold and Claude Priscilla Coon. She was born on April 19, 1931 at Kerrobert, Saskatchewan, Canada. Her parents were both born in the United States but moved with the family to Canada when they were young. Saskatchewan offered free farm land but it was a cold and difficult place to make a living.
In 1934 the Vold family moved to Alberni, British Columbia. Marion attended school in Alberni. When she was in the 8th grade a girl from that age group was selected to be Queen for the May-Day celebration sponsored by the Elk's Club. Marion was chosen for this two day event. She was employed in Eaton's Catalog Store and in a jewelry store in Port Alberni.
She met her future husband, Doyle W. Elison, when he was a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They exchanged a few letters after he returned home and was in the Army. They were married on August 28, 1952. They had a short time together before Doyle was sent to Korea for nine Months. They made their home in Blackfoot for 63 years. They were blessed with three children. Bary was born in 1955. Lori was born in 1957.  Nyle was born in 1962.
Marion was an active member of the church and filled many callings such as Stake Primary President and many teaching positions in Primary and the Young Women programs.  Marion worked several farm type jobs to make a few extra dollars to take the family home every year to Canada. Those are great  memories. Marion later worked at Clegg's Furniture and as a Clerk at Dale's Jewelry Store. She has a strong spirit and has endured poor health for over fifty years.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Ole Vold; her sister, Muriel Idell; her parents; and all of Doyle's family, except her husband Doyle.
Her family now consists of Bary Doyle Elison (Deanna) of Pasco, Washington, Lori Ann Bingham (Larry) of Moreland, and Nyle Elison of Salem, Utah; thirteen grandchildren, Brandon Elison (Melissa), Darren Elison (Emily), Jared Elison, Tyler Elison (Emily), Natalie Elison, Kim Bingham, LaShanna Moore (Ryan), Laramie Bingham (Tiffany), Jandell Bingham, Landon Bingham (Samantha), Jennifer Jackman (Daniel), Camille Lindow (Shawn), and Jeffrey Elison. She also has 18 great-grandchildren. The Canadian side of her family consists of Victor Frykas, a brother-in-law; her sister's four children, Dennis Frykas (Marilyn), Robin Frykas (Francis), Todd Frykas (Jennifer) and Janice Wyllie (Steve).
Marion has been greatly loved and will continue to be loved as our memory returns to a great life as one of God's chosen spirits.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 20, 2016 at the Blackfoot 11th Ward LDS Church. The family will meet with friends and relatives from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, February 19, 2016 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot and for one hour prior to serves at the church. Interment will follow at the Grove City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.hawkerfuneralhome.com.
