Martin Hermansen Obituary
Martin Hermansen, 75, of Moreland, passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at his home.
Martin was born June 20, 1940 in Blackfoot, Idaho to Marcus Herman Hermansen and Hortense Kruse. He graduated from White Pine High School in Ely, Nevada.
He served his country in the United States Navy on the USS Bennington, USS Long Beach and USS Enterprise.
On December 16, 1960 Martin married Peggy Cook in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. She preceded him in death on May 3, 2013.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as secretary or clerk in various organizations, Stake Sunday School President and as a Sunday School teacher.
Martin worked at the INL for 33 years in Electrical Maintenance. In his free time he enjoyed collecting pens and knives, was a master gardner and knitted hats for babies and the women's shelter.
He is survived by his daughters, Valarie Sue (Terry) Jensen of Pleasant Grove, Utah and Laura Kaye Pierce of Nampa, Idaho; sister, Judy Ortiz of Ely, Nevada and five grandchildren, Russell Saxton, Valarie Saxton, Todd Saxton, Hillary Jensen and Corlissa Jensen.
He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Peggy.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 20, 2016 at the Moreland LDS Chapel, 740 W 175 N in Moreland.  The family will meet with friends and relatives from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, June 19, 2016 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot and for one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will follow at the Moreland Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to: www.hawkerfuneralhome.com.
