Mary Beth Murphy Obituary
Mary Beth Murphy, 66, lost her long battle with cancer on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2018 at her home in Blackfoot, Idaho.
Mary was a Pioneer and an Innovator in Psychiatric Nursing Care at Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello, Idaho for many years. She met and later married Tim Murphy on March 12, 1988 and made their home in Red Wing, Minnesota, where they made their home.
The couple moved to Rock Springs, Wyoming where Mary trained for and received her Cosmetology license. This also encouraged her to begin her pursuit of her nursing degree.
The couple then moved to Idaho Falls where Mary attended Idaho State University and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing and also Psychology, with an Associate's degree in Science. Mary was the recipient of the prestigious Daisy Award for nurses that go above and beyond the call of duty.
Mary loved nursing, fishing, camping, canning and her backyard chickens.
Mary is survived by her husband Tim of Blackfoot; brothers Quintin (Karen) Pettigrew of Waseca, MN and Tom Pettigrew of Cannon Falls, Minn.; sisters Betty (Hans) Marlette of Fairborn, Ohio, Carol Boudinot of Inver Grove Heights, Minn., and Gail Pettigrew of Yellow Springs, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
A Rosary will be held at the Hawker Funeral Home on Monday, February 5, 2018 at 6 p.m. with a visitation to follow until 8 p.m. 
A memorial Mass will celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Blackfoot with a luncheon to follow.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 6 at Tommy Vaughn's, 850 Jensen Grove Drive in Blackfoot from 6-8 p.m. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.hawkerfuneralhome.com.
