Mary Jane "May" Williamson Obituary
Mary Jane "May" Williamson, 94, of Blackfoot, Idaho passed away Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2016 at her home.
She was born Aug. 21, 1922 in Pocatello, Idaho the daughter of Joseph Simpson Hastie and Mary Collins Hastie.
May attended schools in Pocatello, graduating from Pocatello High School in 1941.
On Dec. 20, 1943, she married Lynn Thomas Williamson in San Diego. He preceded her in death on Dec. 22, 1989.
After their marriage, they moved to Pocatello where Lynn was working as a Civil Service employee at the Naval Ordinance Plant. They lived in California from 1959-74. She has lived the past 20 years in Blackfoot.
She was a member of the Roman Catholic Church.
May worked for the railroad as a messenger and teletype operator. She advanced over the years to become an executive secretary to the Vice President of Applied Technology in California. She also worked for 9 years at Bingham Memorial Hospital as the cashier in the cafe, where she made many friends.
She thoroughly enjoyed playing Bingo, going to Jackpot and was an avid bowler until the late 1990s.
After her retirement, at the age of 84, she volunteered at the hospital.
She is survived by her two sons, Tom Williamson of Blackfoot, Scott (Bonnie) Williamson of Pocatello and daughter, Jan Williamson of Blackfoot; one granddaughter, Kim (Jonah) Lloyd and three great grandchildren, Katelyn Williamson, Madeline Lloyd and Kenny Lloyd and a grand daughter in law, Kelly Williamson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson, Scott Thomas Williamson, brother, Simon "Sim" Hastie and sister, Irene Philpott.
A visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., Blackfoot. It was May's request to have an Irish Wake and celebration of her life which will continue at the Blackfoot Elk's Lodge immediately following the viewing.
