Mary Theresa Prouse Obituary

Mary Theresa Prouse, 79, of Blackfoot, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2015 at her home.
She was born June 7, 1935 in Prince Edward Island, Canada to Wilford McAree and Carolyn Marque McAree, where she was the oldest of 20 children.
She left Prince Edward Island at the age of 15 to live in New York, Boston, and Rhode Island where she met a cute sailor named Gordon Prouse.  They married on July 30, 1955 in Providence, Rhode Island. They later moved to Virginia while Gordon served in the Navy.
She enjoyed watching sports, especially baseball and hockey and often talked about playing hockey as a child.  She enjoyed being a rancher's wife taking care of the cattle, lambs and other animals on the farm.  She enjoyed gardening, various crafts, puzzles, sudoku, attending Mass and spending time with her kids and grandkids, and everyone will miss her homemade bread.
She was a parishioner of the St. Bernard's Catholic Church.  
She is survived by her husband, Gordon of Blackfoot;  children, Robert (Brenna) Prouse of Blackfoot, Erwin (Kristi) Prouse of Belgrade, Mont.; Christine (Dan) Gudger of Idaho Falls; Shonna Prouse of Blackfoot; Marlene Prouse of Shelley and Shasta Stokes of Blackfoot; siblings, Bobby McAree of Prince Edward Island, Canada; Blanch Egbal of Ontario, Canada; Herby McAree of Ontario, Canada; Jean Bradley of Prince Edward Island, Canada; Lenord McAree of Prince Edward Island, Canada; Mable Bates of Ontario, Canada; Eileen Gallant of Ontario, Canada; Frank McAree of Prince Edward Island, Canada; Laura Gotell of Alberta, Canada; Ruth Dover of Alberta, Canada; Joan Fraser of Prince Edward Island, Canada; Viola McKinnon of Prince Edward Island, Canada; Pauline MacIntyre of Prince Edward Island, Canada; John McAree of Prince Edward Island, Canada and Florence McAree of Ontario, Canada;  19 grandchildren and 24 great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Edward McAree (brother); Richard Prouse (son); Carolyn Orders (daughter) and great-granddaughter Makenzie Hook.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 26, 2015 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot.  The family will meet with friends and relatives for one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
