Mervin Preston Obituary
Mervin Nyle Preston, 88, of Idaho Falls, passed away Friday, November 25, 2016 at Gem Village Assisted Living, in Blackfoot.
Mervin was born January 29, 1928 in Declo, Idaho, to Clifford and Oneata Owen Preston.
He was raised and attended school in Declo, but has lived in various North Western States.
He married Rae Saunders on December 8, 1947, in Logan, Utah, LDS Temple. She preceded him in death in October 2005.
On March 14, 2009 he married Jean Lloyd in Thomas, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple on May 23, 2012.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Mervin was a  jack-of-all trades, he has worked as a farmer, a truck driver, a school bus driver, a brick mason, custodian at the Dufur Elementary School in Oregon and owned and operated a carpet cleaning business and was a heavy equipment operator in the logging industry. He had also worked for Aultorest Memorial Park in Ogden, Ut. doing all and various tasks related to the cemetery.
He enjoyed reading and traveling in his spare time.
Mervin is survived by his wife, Jean; daughters, Linda Rae (Ken) Miller, Diane (Dale) Carter, Nyla (Jerry) Kent, Vicki Lynn (Scott) Christensen; brother Charles Henry Preston; sisters, Vivian Onita Lewis and Edna Mae Lee; 21 grandchildren and 58 great-grandchildren. 3 step-children Bruce Lloyd, Patrician Mildon and Jeffery Lee Lloyd.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Hurst; a great grandson Heber Mudrow, his parents; twin brother, Marvin Preston and brothers Richard Preston, Ken Preston, Deed Preston, Clifford Preston, Frank Preston and Francis Preston.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at the Blackfoot West Stake Center with Bishop Arlin Stimpson of the Thomas 2nd Ward conducting. The family will greet friends and relatives from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the Hawker Funeral Home in Blackfoot and again for one hour prior to services at the church. The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Church of Jesus Christ Missionary Fund.
