Michael Stephen Burke Obituary
Michael Stephen Burke, 74, of Blackfoot, Idaho, passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at his home.
Michael was born June 1, 1942 in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Darrell W. Burke and Georgia K. Lebsack Burke.
As a young boy, Mike lived with his father and step-mother, Jeanne and attended schools in the Idaho Falls area. They later moved to Blackfoot and Mike finished his senior year at Blackfoot High School, where he met his lifelong partner. On April 26, 1961 he married Patricia Hall in Blackfoot, Idaho and has resided there since.
Mike and his brother LeRay share many childhood memories and have always had a special bond - Mike loved his brother very much.
Mike worked hard his whole life and had an extraordinary work ethic. He made a living farming in the Moreland and Hamer areas, working side by side with his father Darrell and brother LeRay, raising potatoes, grain and alfalfa. After Mike retired from farming he wanted to continue working, having various jobs with D & D Trucking and East Idaho Auto Auction.
Mike's strong belief in God made him live his life as an honest, fair and very generous person. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Mike was blessed to be cared for by his wife, Pat and son, Jay, in the comfort of his own home during his illness, with the help of other family members.
Mike's father passed down the love of horses and in his free time, Mike trained and ran racehorses. He was a member of the Eastern Idaho Cutter Horse Association. Always accompanied by a dog, Mike especially enjoyed relaxing in his recliner with his beloved dog sitting on his lap.
Mike is survived by his wife, Patricia, of Blackfoot; son, Jay Dee Burke, of Blackfoot; daughters, Leslie (Alan) Watkins, of Idaho Falls, Kristene Burke, of Pocatello; Wendy Jean Burke, of Idaho Falls; brother, LeRay (Dixie) Burke, of Blackfoot; nine grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Darrell and Georgia.
