Mickey Dean Popejoy Obituary
Mickey Dean Popejoy was born November 28, 1978 in Pocatello, Idaho, to Michael Popejoy and Lori Murdock. He passed away on Friday, July 21, 2017 in Blackfoot, Idaho.
Mick was blessed as a child to grow up with his brothers, Cody and Dustin Popejoy and Jeff Allred, as his best friends and partners in crime.
Mick had a carefree and fearless spirit, and he and his brothers have tales of many adventures together growing up in Blackfoot. From dirt bikes to four wheelers, there was nothing Mick didn't love when it came to speed and excitement. His laughter was contagious and his personality made it easy to love and want to be around him.
Mick was married in 2002 to Mandy Bankston. They had two sons together, Skyler and Rayse. Nothing made Mick prouder than his boys. He adored them in every way and was not only their father but their closest friend.
Mick and his boys shared a love for motocross, old cars, and spending time outdoors, and Mick's happiest times were when he was with his kids.
Mick was a hard worker and a talented artist. He was as good at creating beautiful pieces of stone art and custom jewelry as he was tackling the various jobs he had throughout his life. He especially enjoyed working for Dave and D.J. Wilson at Western Heating and Cooling.
He made friends easily and has several life-long friends who have supported and loved him throughout the years.
Above all, Mick was a devoted father, son, brother, and family man. He gave selflessly of himself, often attending to others' needs before his own. He never left the company of a family member without saying "I love you," and his expression was sincere.
He rarely missed an opportunity to stop by and visit his dad, spend a weekend day with his mom, or call to catch up with his brothers on the phone.
His family loved and relied on him more than he may have known, and his absence will leave a void for those lucky enough to have known and loved him.
Mick is survived by his sons, Skyler and Rayse Popejoy of Blackfoot, parents, Michael (Cindy) Popejoy and Lori Murdock of Blackfoot, brothers Cody (Cori) Popejoy and Dustin (Amanda) Popejoy of Grand Junction, Colo., and Jeff (Alicia) Allred of Gannett, Idaho, grandmother Lila Murdock of Riggins, Idaho, as well as several nephews, a niece, uncles, aunts and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his grandfather, LaVar Murdock, and grandparents Edward Leroy and Juanita Marie Popejoy.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a bonfire and Celebration of Life on Wednesday, July 26, at 7 p.m. at the approximate location of 593 W 75 South (Thomas Rd), Blackfoot. Entrance to the river bottom location will be marked on Thomas Rd.
