Myrtle Larsen Obituary
Myrtle Larsen, 81, of Moreland, Idaho, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2015, at her home.

Myrtle was born December 17, 1933, in Moreland, Idaho, to Harrison McKnight Sr. and Gertrude Eva England. She attended school at Moreland Elementary and she was a freshman when Thomas High School and Moreland High School combined to be Snake River High School.

On November 21, 1951, Myrtle married Gerald Larsen in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Myrtle was a senior in high school at the time, and she always felt bad that she hadn't graduated. She earned her G.E.D. in her later years.

Myrtle was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving with all her might, mind and strength in every auxiliary of the Church. She especially enjoyed serving a stake mission with her husband to Fort Hall.

She worked side by side with her husband on the family farm. They broke many acres out of sage brush and "made the desert blossom as a rose". She loved quilting, crocheting, talking with her friends, fishing and a good water fight. Her greatest joy is her children and grandchildren. She was a faithful member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers serving various positions.

Myrtle is survived by her son, Michael G. (Nicolette) Larsen of Moreland; daughters, Sheryl LaVera (Michael) Allred of Ogden, Utah, Myrtle Annette (Lou) Little of Salt Lake City, Utah, Eva "Sue" (Richard D.) Thomas of Moreland, JoAnn (Bryan) Mickelson of Logan, Utah, Jerri Lyn Larsen, of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Sally Marlene Larsen of Blackfoot; brother, Harrison (Greta) McKnight Jr. of Gresham, Oregon; sisters, Eunice Pratt of Idaho Falls and Jane (Scott) Whimpey of Heber City, Utah; sisters-in-law, Dortha McKnight of Colorado, Deon Cotterell of Orem, Utah, Delone McKnight of Pocatello, LaFay Larsen of Marysville, Idaho, and Irene Larsen of Ammon; 32 grandchildren; and 34 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerald; daughter, Sonja Larsen; and brother, John McKnight.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 31, 2015 at the Blackfoot North West Stake Center, 95 N 740 W in Blackfoot, with Bishop Daniel Fitzgerald conducting. The family will meet with friends and relatives from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 30, 2015, at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot and for one hour prior to services at the church.
