Parley Frank Payne, 79, died on May 21, 2015, from-obituaries often site a cause of death-his body was just worn out.

Parley was born June 4, 1935 to Mary and Bill Payne in Blackfoot, Idaho. He was raised largely by his sister Hazel and uncles Bill and Duber. He joined the US Navy in 1955 and is a Korean War veteran.

He married his wife Marla Jean in 1962, that marriage has lasted more than 50 years and would still be going, health permitting, and it was a good marriage, meaning they fought and loved each other in equal measure. They had their first child, Shanice in 1963, then Sara in 1966, and Dan in 1973.

Parley loved building the community around him. He was one of the original organizers of the Twin Buttes Lions Club in Rockford, ID. He was on the Bingham Memorial Hospital Board for nine years, including a term as President overseeing many upgrades to the hospital. He facilitated an ambulance district for Rockford, ID including a volunteer fire station. He and Marla purchased the IGA grocery store in Rockford in 1971. From 1988-1998 they ran The Backroom furniture store in Rockford.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday May 27, 2015 at the Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., Blackfoot, Idaho. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service from 10-10:45 am. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.hawkerfuneralhome.com.
