Patricia Mable Kitzmiller Obituary
Patricia Mable Kitzmiller, 74, of Blackfoot, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at the Bingham Memorial Extended Care Facility.
Patricia was born January 11, 1944 in Blackfoot, Idaho to Earl Chester and Mary Jane Ogborn Hammond. The family lived in various places due to her father's job in construction. The family settled in California, where Patricia attended school until the 5th grade, then they moved to Missoula, Montana where she graduated high school.
On September 23, 1961, she married Larry Kitzmiller in Post Falls, Idaho. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on September 1, 2000.
Patricia was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed her various callings in the church, but most enjoyed teaching the Primary children. She and her husband served a mission in the Bishop's Storehouse and also served in the temple. She was a 4-H leader and a Cub Scout leader.
Patricia was a realtor, waitress and school bus driver. She also sold monuments and Avon. Ultimately, she became a nurse and started her career at State Hospital South and then worked at Bingham Memorial Hospital, where she worked for 14 years. She then finished her career at the Pocatello Veteran's Home and home health.
She loved doing crafts, ceramics, sewing, crocheting, cross-stitch and quilting. She enjoyed 4-wheeling, working with horses, her dogs and various other pets. She was an avid reader.
Patricia is survived by her husband of 56 years, Larry; children, Angela (Kris) Kelly of Pocatello, Neil (Laura) Kitzmiller of Blackfoot, Mindy (Russell) Hale of Burley, Michael (Lori) Kitzmiller of Blackfoot and Melissa (William) Harris of Meridian; her brother Clarence Hammond of Blackfoot; her sisters Martha Hammond of Blackfoot and Michelle (Marvin) Miles of Las Cruces, New Mexico; 18 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a great grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 14, 2018 at the Thomas 4th Ward Chapel, 1059 W 100 S in Blackfoot. The family will meet with friends and relatives Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Avenue, Blackfoot, and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Riverside-Thomas Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.hawkerfuneralhome.com.
