1952 - 2015 Obituary Condolences
Patrick Lyle "Pat" Caldwell Obituary
Patrick "Pat" Lyle Caldwell passed away at his home at Ferry Butte on Jan. 1, 2015.
Pat's life began on April 16, 1952 on the Fort Hall Indian reservation. He's the second child born to Lyle Caldwell and Ardith Faulkner Caldwell. The only time Pat left the reservation was when he left on the train to Omaha, Nebraska, with the Hamiltons. He was an excellent athlete, playing baseball for the Kiwanis and making all-star each year. He competed in high school track where he ran the 100-yard dash in 10 flat.
Anyone who was in Pat's life knew how special he was. Pat's life was forever changed as a young adult. This was a challenge for him and his family and it was always on his parentss minds as to what they could do to make his life better. He loved listening to his radio non-stop (even with the static). Pat loved to make his daily rounds and watch over the entire community traveling from Fort Hall, to Pingree, to Blackfoot and back. His love for driving was well known, offering his own personal taxi by giving free rides to anyone who needed it. His concern for others is a true testament of why we are all here. He gave generously without thinking of himself.
His entire life was spent on the farm-ranch at Ferry Butte where he cut and bailed hay and straw. He hauled potatoes for many seasons for Murray Jones and worked cattle for Tibbits Cattle Company. He had a love for animals, raising cattle and pigs.
He married Roxanne Steady; they were later divorced but remained friends until her passing in 2001.
Pat was an artist with leather and was an excellent braider. Pat was proud of his accomplishments that he could live on his own. Through all his adversities Pat never lost his sense of humor. He could always manage to make you laugh at his jokes and he never forgot your name. He lived his life his way. No matter what your story was, once you were his friend you stayed a friend for life. And upon leaving, Pat would always end with………….. "Check Ya Later!"
Pat was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Ardith Faulkner Caldwell; his x-wife Roxanne Steady; grandparents, Ren and Fern Caldwell and Roy and Margaret Faulkner.
He is survived by one brother, Michael (Helen) Caldwell of Blackfoot, and one sister, Roxann Caldwell of Blackfoot, as well as several cherished nieces and nephews and a large extended family and friends.
