Rhoda Lillian Ternus Obituary
Rhoda Lillian Ternus, 87, of Blackfoot, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family and friends on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014 at Bingham Memorial Hospital.
Rhoda was born April 22, 1927 in Hillsborough County, Florida, to Charles Edgar and Annice Albritton Futch. Growing up in Florida, Rhoda loved spending time at the beach.  She was a cheerleader and loved to sing with her sisters.
In 1946 Rhoda married the love of her life, Eugene Ternus.  They made their first home in Humphrey, Nebraska, Gene's hometown.  After farming for approximately 11 years, they moved to Idaho, where Gene farmed hay, grain and potatoes.  Rhoda made some wonderful friends, volunteered at St. Vincent's and liked spending time with her Bible study group.  She and Gene were members of St. Bernard's Catholic Church.
Rhoda, (also known as "Cookie Grandma" by her family) enjoyed working on the family farm she and Gene owned.  She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with family and friends, camping, fishing, playing cards, bowling, reading and especially hosting large family dinners.  Rhoda took pride in making sure that her appearance was always top notch, and enjoyed doing her nails.
Rhoda is survived by two daughters: Dorothy (Jack) Webb of Pingree; Teresa (Jeff) Pearson of Bremerton, Washington; four sons: Don Ternus of Blackfoot, Tom Ternus of American Falls, Gary (Brenda) Ternus of Blackfoot, Neal (fiance', Melanie) Ternus of Blackfoot; sister, Evelyn Baldwin of Salmon; two brothers, Charles Futch of Plant City, Florida and Arthur Futch of Moscow, Idaho; daughter-in-law, Wanda Ternus of Winnemucca, Nevada; 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.  She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends.
Rhoda was preceded in death by her husband and sweetheart of 68 years, Eugene Ternus; one son, Charles Ternus and her parents.
Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church.  A Rosary service will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, 2014 at Hawker Funeral Home, the family will continue to meet with friends until 8 p.m. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.hawkerfuneralhome.com.
The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to all those who cared for Rhoda during the last few years at The Gables.
