Richard D. Salisbury Obituary
Richard D. Salisbury, 79, of Blackfoot, Idaho passed away Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.
Richard was born July 8, 1938 in Corvallis, Oregon to Owen D. Salisbury and Cecile Holloway Salisbury. At a young age his parents moved to Blackfoot, Idaho. Richard attended school in the Blackfoot School District and graduated from Blackfoot High in 1957. After graduation he worked in Blackfoot for a year and then was drafted into the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska for 18 months.
After serving two years in the Army he returned to Blackfoot. He married Beverly Ramey in July of 1960. They are the parents of two children, Kristine (Stewart) Hayduk and Keith (Catherine) Salisbury.
Richard worked for Agricultural Services for 30 years and Nonpareil and Basic American for 22 years. He enjoyed watching the progress in the irrigation of the farmland over the years from ditch irrigation of head gates to syphon tubes to sprinkle hand lines to wheel lines and now the pivots being controlled by smartphones. He also worked in the oil fields for 6 years in Wyoming hauling water to the pump rigs.
Richard enjoyed tinkering and making something out of nothing. He would see something in a catalog that he thought would be handy to have and try to duplicate it for his own use.
Richard enjoyed going places with his family. Kristine was in 4-H and as a family would go to Alpine, Wyoming for horse 4-H camp. He also had the opportunity to go with his son on a scout trip to Mt. Borah with the scouts on horseback.
Richard is survived by his wife Beverly, his daughter Kristine (Stewart) Hayduk, Evanston, WY, son Keith (Catherine) Salisbury, Blackfoot, ID; 4 grandchildren, Coleman Hayduk, Abigail Hayduk, Jenna Salisbury, Jessica Salisbury; brothers, Billy R (Nola), Dover, MN, Larry D., Downey, ID, Terry L. (Kathy), Twin Falls; sisters, Gwen D. Robertson, Newberry Springs, CA, Janet (Donald) Ruud, Rexburg, ID, Sherry L. (Monte) Clemow, Afton, WY.
