Richard Jardine "Dick" Davis Obituary
Richard "Dick" Jardine Davis, 86 of Groveland, passed away on Sunday Sept. 17, 2017 at his home.
Richard was born Oct. 9, 1930 to Lloyd Alma Davis and Jessie Ozelma Jardine Davis in Blackfoot, Idaho.
Richard attended schools in Blackfoot and graduated from Blackfoot High School with the Class of 1949.
On April 28, 1950 he married his high school sweetheart Velda Jean Mecham in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
Richard began working with his father as an electrician and was later joined by his brother Scott. They ran Davis Electric for many years as electrical contractors until Richard's retirement.
In the early 1950s, Richard did some electrical work for the I.P. Bills Island and was able to acquire a lot on the island where he eventually built his family cabin.
Richard was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served as a counselor in the bishopric and as a member in the stake high council.
In 2000, he and his wife served a restoration mission in Nauvoo, Ill. where he helped do a lot of electrical restoration in the many surrounding buildings.
In his free time, he enjoyed spending time at their family cabin on Bill's Island making many fun family memories. He loved fishing, boating, snow machining and being with his family and grandchildren.
Richard is survived by his wife, Velda; sons, Richard Lloyd (Linda) Davis of Billings, MT, Michael Lane (Leigh Ann) Davis of Blackfoot; daughters, Linda Jean (Lance) Gardner of Blackfoot, Kristine (Lorin) Lilya of Blackfoot, JeNel (Brannon) Harmer of Salt Lake City, Utah; brothers, Lloyd (Bette-deceased) Jardine Davis of Blackfoot, Scott Jardine (Margaret) Davis of Blackfoot; sisters, Signe (Merlin) Smith of Blackfoot, Sonia (Gerald) Marion of Blackfoot; 19 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Jessie Jardine Davis; and grandsons, Casey Mertin and Michael Lane Davis Jr.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am Saturday, Sept. 23 at the Groveland LDS Church. A viewing will be held the night prior on Friday Sept. 22 from 6-8 p.m. at the Hawker Funeral Home and again for one hour prior to the services at the church.
Interment will follow the services in the Grove City Cemetery in Blackfoot.
