Richard Kent Stoddart Obituary
Richard Kent Stoddart, 71, of Blackfoot, Idaho passed away Saturday, December 9, 2017 at his home.
He was born April 30,1946 in Blackfoot, Idaho, the son of Lewis James Stoddart and Verda Mae Judd Stoddart.
Rick has lived his entire life in Blackfoot. He attended grade school at Irving and graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1964. In school, he was known as the DJ at KBLI.
On June 17, 1967, he married Karen Bahr in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
He served in the National Guard from 1968-1973. He completed Officer Candidate School and became a lieutenant.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he had served as a teacher in Elder's and High Priest Quorums, and 22 years as the Finance Clerk helping many Bishoprics.
He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce for many years and served as the president for 2 years. He was also a Rotary Club Member.
Rick worked at Kesler's and Stan's in his younger years. He spent most of his lifetime in the radio and television business, over 50 years. He worked for Riverbend, KBLI, KLCE, KPVI, and KSEI. He was the general manager at KBLI for a number of years. He was known as "Rockin' Rick" on the air.
He loved to play and make people laugh. He loved being a pilot, traveling and being an MC at Airshows. He broadcast many of the sports for area high schools and the community. He built and flew model airplanes in the area. He loved  playing and broadcasting music.
He is survived by his wife, Karen of Blackfoot; children, Janelle (Chad) Tolman of Chubbuck, Jason (Tiffany) Stoddart of Idaho Falls and Jamie Lyn (Jefferson) Woodland of Pocatello; sister-in-law, Jean Stoddart of Escondido, CA and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Ronald Stoddart, sister, Darlene Hibbert and infant boy and girl twin siblings.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 15, 2017 at the Blackfoot 15th Ward LDS Chapel, 520 N. Shilling Ave. with Bishop Dan Beck of the Blackfoot 11th Ward conducting.
The family will meet with friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., Blackfoot, Idaho and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Interment will be in the Grove City Cemetery.
