Richard "Dee" Sandau Obituary
Richard "Dee" Sandau, 78, of Blackfoot, passed away Tuesday July 19, 2016 at Portneuf Medical Center from severe heart failure. 
Richard was born Nov. 19, 1937 in Blackfoot to Richard Sandau and Evelyn Alice Jensen. He attended and graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1955, and spent his life in Blackfoot. Dee served in the National Guard for eight years.
Dee married his high school sweetheart Rosemary Gheen on April 11, 1958 in the Idaho Falls Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Dee worked as a reactor operator for the Idaho National Laboratory, for 35 years.
He was an active member of the LDS Church. He served as High Priest and had been a Scoutmaster. In his free time, Dee liked woodworking, fishing, camping and being at the cabin with his family in Island Park.
Dee is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rosemary of Blackfoot; daughters, Kathryn (Robert) Benheart, of Carter, Mont., and Denise (Kenneth) Jensen, of Blackfoot; sons, Stephen (Laurie) Sandau of Vernal, Utah, and Richard (Jennifer) Sandau, of Ogden, Utah; brother, Curtis (Diane) Sandau, of Lewiston, Idaho; 18 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 22, 2016 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S Shilling in Blackfoot, with President Richard J. Sandau conducting. The family will meet with relatives and friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Primary Children's Hospital, 100 N. Mario Capecchi Dr. Salt Lake City, UT, 84113.
