Rose Marie Coffman Obituary
Rose Marie Coffman, 58, of Blackfoot, passed away, Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, Utah with loved ones by her bedside.
Rose was born in Elwood, Madison Co., Indiana, December 28, 1959, the second of three children born to Jackie Lee Cornwell and Juanita Francis (Davis) Cornwell. She grew up in Elwood and Chesterfield, Indiana with her brother Randy and wonder extended family members. She was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in several positions in her faith.
She was known as an outstanding scholar during her school years where she graduated with a 3.93 gpa ranked 10th in a large graduating high school class. She belonged to the National Honor Society, Quill and Scroll, was yearbook editor, Student Assembly president and Homecoming Queen candidate and received other honors. She earned a one year full-ride scholarship to Brigham Young University Provo. Then a handsome prince came into her life and she decided to attend Ricks College (Brigham Young University Idaho). After several months of courtship she married for time and all eternity, Douglas Coffman on December 15, 1978 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
After marriage, she desired to start a family and be a wife and homemaker. Rose enjoyed tole painting, decorating her home, visiting with friends and family gatherings. She became a Master Food Preserver through the University of Idaho and taught others the art of food preservation. She was an accomplished cook, had an infectious laugh that others enjoyed. She and Doug were truly eternal sweethearts and continued to court each other throughout life through dinner dates and other times together.
Rose was greatly loved by all who knew her. She was a wonderful wife, exceptional mother and loyal friend to others.
She leaves behind her husband Doug; five children, Brittany Coffman, Emily (Greg) Harrington and Grant (Jennifer) Coffman, all of Blackfoot, and Ann (Andy) Babbitt of Pocatello, Danielle (Camron) Olsen of Herriman, UT; eight grandchildren and brother, Randy Lee Cornwell of Anderson, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Gary and parents are deceased.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the Blackfoot 10th Ward, 900 Riverton Road. Family will meet with friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 16, 2018 at Hawker Funeral Home, and from 11-12:30 p.m. Saturday at the church.
