Rowene Bird Lee Obituary
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Rowene Bird Lee passed on to the beautiful streets of God's kingdom at 7:45 a.m. Sunday, January 31 at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Born in Milo, Idaho on March 21, 1921, she was the fourth child of Mary Ann Davis Bird and Lewis Richard Bird and baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Rowene was a graduate of Ucon High School and Salt Lake City Business College and she served missions in Salt Lake COB and in Arizona. A talented seamstress, Rowene worked at the Salt Lake County Courthouse, in offices, helped Ed remodel hers and other homes and build the Bird cabin, and at Idaho Hospital South.
Rowene married Edwin P. M. Goble in 1945 and they had four children who survive them including: Carol Elaine Erekson of Stansbury Park, UT--English teacher and mother of nine, Dr. E. Marlowe (Michelle) Goble of Logan, UT, Douglas (Sheila) Goble of Palisades, ID--teacher and store proprietor, and Dr. Deserae Goble of Logan, UT. She also married Leon Seamons of Shelley in 1989, then her protector Harold Lee of Taylor, ID July 20, 1994 whose children include: James (Kathy) Lee, Idaho Falls, ID; Terri Anderson, West Yellowstone, Montana; and Robert (Donna) Lee, Renton, WA.
Rowene is preceded in death by her parents L. R. Bird and Mary Ann Davis Bird; step-mother Grace Leavitt Bird; sister Lela Leavitt of Idaho Falls, ID and brother Kenneth Bird of Rexburg, ID; step-siblings Wilma Curtis and Rodney Bird of Idaho Falls, ID; sister-in-law Flora May Bird; brothers-in-law Victor Geary, Dean Storer, Ramon Curtis and Lloyd Peterson; grandchildren Jason Benbow Erekson and Mathew Sage Erekson of Taylorsville, UT; and foster Indian child Carmella.
Survivors include: her children and Harold Lee's children, 44 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; siblings: Lola Geary, Ronald (Zilpha) Bird; step-siblings Elaine Storer, JoAnn Peterson, and Ray Bird; and sisters-in-law Carma Bird and LaRene Bird of the Idaho Falls area.
Surviving grandchildren include: Gabrielle (Brian) Acord of Centerville, UT; E. Seth (Melissa) Erekson of Canyon Rim, UT; J. Arion (Kara) Erekson, III of West Valley, UT; Cherish (David) Neale of Sugar House, UT; Joshua (Marianne) Erekson of Salt Lake City, UT; Melodee Erekson of Sugar House and R. Beau (Ashley) Erekson of Bluffdale, UT, Peter (Alexis) Goble, Logan, UT; Caytee (Layne) Hale, Dallas, TX; Sally (Brandon) Stephens, Highlands Ranch, CO; Sam (Chelsie) Goble, Salt Lake City, UT; Stuart (Hailey) Goble, Littleton, CO, Kennedy (Edward) Oare, Logan, UT, Marlowe Goble, Logan, UT, Robert Stefler, Idaho Falls, ID; Danielle Copeland, Palisades, ID, Nick Goble, world traveler.
The family expresses grateful appreciation for the kind attention at Coltrin Mortuary.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 6, 2016, at the Kearney 1st Ward, 1860 Kearney, Idaho Falls, Idaho. The family will visit with friends from 6:30-8 p.m. Friday, February 5 at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls, ID and Saturday one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be at the Taylor Cemetery.
