Ruth H. Ashley Obituary
Ruth H. Ashley, 87, of Blackfoot, passed away Monday, February 29, 2016  surrounded by her family.  
She was born May 30, 1928 along with her twin brother, to Chris Johnson and Lillie Osborne Johnson, in Ashton, Idaho. She attended school in Ashton, graduating in May 1946.
She married Merlin E. Ashley on February 1, 1947. He teased her about chasing hime down main street when he was riding his Harley Motorcycle. To this union 8 children were born: Merlyn, Everett, Marie, Cheryl, twins, Merrel, Terrel, Craig and Steven.  Merlin preceded her in death March 26, 1999.
Ruth had worked for Simplot a few years and then for Sunspice Potato for over 20 years until her retirement.
Ruth loved fishing, reading, doing embroidery work, word search puzzles and especially collecting flashlights.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother, her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren were the light of her life. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her children: Merlyn (Monty) Mogensen, of Emmett, Idaho, Everett Ashley, Merrel (Holly) Ashley, Terrel (Brenda) Ashley, Craig (Pam) Ashley, Steven (Tracie) Ashley, all of Blackfoot; 19 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren.
She  was preceded in death by her husband, Merlin, two daughters, Marie and Cheryl, her parents, bothers, Leo, Ralph and Rex and sister, Charlotte.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2016, at the Hawker Funeral Home. The family will greet friends and relatives on Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the Hawker Funeral Home and again for one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Grove City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to www.hawkerfuneralhome.com.
