Ruth Williams Polatis Obituary
Ruth Williams Polatis, 86, of Blackfoot, Idaho, passed away peacefully in her home Wednesday, May 13, 2015.

She was born July 26, 1928, in Thomas, Idaho, the sixth of 12 children, to Cornelious and Gertrude Van Orden Williams.

She graduated from Thomas High in 1946 and then from Ricks College and Utah State University. She taught elementary school in Aberdeen, Franklin, Rockford, Moreland and Blackfoot. She also taught Special Education at Snake River Junior High.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in several capacities including an 18-month mission to the Northern States Mission and two Family History missions.

On Oct. 27, 1954 she married Lowell Tanner Polatis.

She is survived by her seven children, Kevon (Hazel) of Salem, Gordon (Marla) of Thomas, Chris (Kelly) of Payette, Laura (Randy) Whittier of Rockford, Alice Saylors of Rockford, Ramona (Grant) Lasson of Sandy, Utah and Michael (Danette) of Ammon; brothers, Richard, Stanley and Neal; and one sister, Leah; 38 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell; parents; siblings, Gayle, Marie, John, Helen, David, Margaret and Gertrude; and a grandson, Doug.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at the Thomas LDS Chapel, 1059 W 100 S in Blackfoot.

The family will meet with friends and relatives from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, May 15, 2015 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot and for one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will follow at the Riverside-Thomas Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.hawkerfuneralhome.com.
