Sharon Martin Obituary
Sharon Elaine Martin of Blackfoot, Idaho passed away the morning of July 5, 2016 at her home after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Sharon was born in Lynwood, California to Donald and Elaine Henderson. Sharon lived in many areas of the country from Illinois to California, but loved Idaho and its people. For the past 30 she called Idaho home.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many capacities such as Primary President, Stake Young Women's President and as a Relief Society Counselor.
She loved working with the primary children and the young women. She was always thinking of others before herself, giving generously of her time and talents.
She was married to Leonard Charles Martin for 41 years. They were married for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on May 15, 1975.
Sharon's world revolved around her family. She was blessed with five children; Michael, Mark, Melanie, Melissa and Megan. They were the greatest joy of her life, except for maybe her fourteen grandchildren.
She enjoyed watching "Wheel of Fortune" and "Jeopardy" everyday, skiing, crafts, painting, sewing for her family and friends - sewing stockings for a local assisted living center, participating in the Christmas Tree Fantasy - where she was on the board for a number of years, as well as decorating a tree every year.
For many years, she was a part of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers because of the pride and interest in her pioneer heritage, especially the Martin Handcart Company.
She so enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren whenever she possibly could, from piano, sports, dancing or other activities they were involved in, this brought her a tremendous amount of joy.
She loved traveling and had a thirst for new adventures ... visiting dozens and dozens of states including Hawaii and Alaska, and the countries of Canada, Mexico, England and Ireland.
She is survived by her husband Leonard Martin and five children; son Michael Martin and his wife Kelsie of Lehi, Utah; son Mark Martin and his wife Jaylynn of Twin Falls, Idaho; daughter Melanie Stephens and her husband Ryan of Belton, Texas; daughter Melissa Eastman and her husband Caleb of Highland, Utah and Megan Infanger and her husband Tyson of Blackfoot. Her parents Donald and Elaine Henderson of St. George, Utah; brother Gary and wife Kathy Henderson; brother Paul and wife Pam Henderson and sister Ann and her husband Sean Powers. She is also survived by her 14 grandchildren Carston, Cormac, Caden, Aldon, Adilynn, Aisley, Aidrek, Thomas, Sara, Sam, Kenason, Baden, Braylen and Aniston.
She will be sorely missed.
Viewing will be at the Hawker Funeral Home on Friday, July 15, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. and just prior to the service at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Blackfoot Northwest LDS Stake Center.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Northwest LDS Stake Center located at 100 North 740 West, Moreland Idaho.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked that a donation be made to the Huntsman Cancer Foundation, 500 Huntsman Way, Salt Lake City, Utah 84108 or the Portneuf Health Trust at 500 South 11th Ave., Ste. 503, Pocatello, Idaho 83201.
