Shelda (Elison) Belnap Obituary
Shelda Elison Belnap, 90, of Blackfoot passed away peacefully at her home on Dec. 30, 2014.
Shelda was born on July 12, 1923 in Groveland, Idaho to Horace and Katie Hale Elison. She grew up in the McDonaldville and Groveland areas.  She graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1942.
She met Lyle Belnap in her youth and they had many fun experiences dating and getting to know each other.   Lyle joined the Army and served in World War II in the South Pacific while Shelda worked at JC Penney's to save money for their future.  Lyle sent money home to his father, who purchased the ring and placed it on her finger as proxy for Lyle. Upon Lyle's return they were married in the Logan LDS Temple on Nov. 15, 1944. They spent 64 wonderful years together before Lyle passed away in 2008.
Shelda's greatest pride in life was being a Mom and Grandmother.  She supported Lyle and helped out on the farm whenever she was needed.  In 1966 she joined forces with her sister Vonnie and purchased the "Sewfari" store in Blackfoot.  They had many great experiences together and each of her daughters got to work with her.  They sold the store in 1971 and she concentrated on being a Mom and Grandma.
She was a member of the LDS Church and served faithfully in many ward and stake callings.  She and Lyle were able to serve a full time LDS Mission at the Liberty Jail in Missouri.  They loved their mission and the choice experiences they had there.
Shelda was very proud of her posterity and always said it was her greatest joy in life.
She is survived by her children:  Marsha (Spence) Carter and Jerry (Dianne) Belnap of Blackfoot; Judy (LaMar) Wilcox of Rexburg; Sheila (Miles) Walton of Idaho Falls; Brett (Sherry) Belnap of Mayfield, Utah; Todd (Krista) Belnap, of Jackson, Idaho; Tim (Lisa) Belnap of Idaho Falls and Lori Kae (Steve) Bair of Blackfoot; sisters, Vonnie (Merthan) Ellis of Jerome, Idaho; Katie (Al) Staley of Groveland; Gloria (Don) Carter of Pingree; brothers, Rolland (Leah – deceased) Elison of Layton, Utah; and Delos (Judy) Elison of Toquerville, Utah;  Doyle (Sue) Belnap of Seattle, Washington; 45 grandchildren, 143 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson and more on the way.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lyle, sisters Beth Stringham and Reava Stevenson, a grandson and three great-grandchildren.
