Shirley Davis Obituary
Long time resident of Utah, Shirley Davis, 84, died May 31, 2016 due to kidney failure.
Shirley (Shirl) Shaun Davis was born August 26, 1931 in Fort Hall, Idaho to Minnie and Howard Davis. He was one of 10 children in the family.
Shirley attended Blackfoot High School and graduated in 1949, he then joined the US Navy and served his country until he was injured during the Korean War in 1952. He was honorably discharged as a Korean War Veteran and returned to Idaho where he met and married Marjorie Astle in December 1954. The couple had 3 daughters.
After graduating from Idaho State University, Shirley and his family ventured north to Alaska in 1970 for a job opportunity with the State of Alaska Department of Transportation. They resided in Alaska, where Shirley enjoyed many outdoor activities, such as fishing and golf.
Shirley and his family lived in Alaska until his retirement in 1990. Shirl and Marge enjoyed living in Yuma Arizona during the winter months and returning to Alaska to live in their home in Big Lake, Alaska during the summer months until Marge's death in February 1998.
Shirley was then reunited with Bonnie Ward, during a high school reunion. They were wed in July of 1999 and moved to Utah where they both enjoyed family and friends. Shirl became an avid golfer and golfed almost every day until his recent illness prevented him from golfing anymore. He enjoyed traveling in the couples RV and spending time with family and friends. In his later years, Shirl became very involved in the Church of Latter-day Saints where found comfort and peace in his faith.
Shirl is survived by his 3 daughters, Shauna Conducy, of Utah, Margo Pirtle, of Alabama and Sydnee Davis, of Alaska, his sister, Norma Echiverria, a brother, Larry Davis, his second wife Bonnie Ward-Davis and her children, Miki, Tracy, Jenae and Yvette, along with many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
